PI Powder (Polyimide)
PI (polyimide) powder is supplied in free-flowing form for sintering, filtration media, and high-temperature coating applications. It offers extreme temperature resistance and dimensional stability beyond most other engineering thermoplastics, without a conventional melting point. Particle size varies widely by grade, from single-digit micron powders to coarser cuts; grades and particle size are confirmed at time of quotation.
PI Powder — Grades & Specifications
Polyimide (PI) powder is supplied across a range of grades, particle sizes and morphologies. The options below are typical; specify your target values in the request form and we will confirm availability, lead time and pricing.
| Material | Polyimide (PI) |
|---|---|
| Category | High-Performance Engineering Plastic Powders |
| CAS number | No single CAS number — polyimide covers a broad family of chemistries; commercial powder grades are proprietary formulations |
| Melting / softening point | Does not melt in the conventional sense; most fully-imidized grades resist softening under short-term heating to ~350°C |
| Particle size | Wide range by grade, from ~1–10 µm fine powders up to coarser mesh cuts |
| Morphology | Fine to coarse powder depending on grade |
| Appearance | Yellow to tan powder (black in filled grades) |
| Max. continuous service temperature | Approx. 232°C continuous (short excursions well above 260°C for some grades) |
| Typical applications | High-Temperature Filtration Media, Aerospace Thermal Insulation, Friction & Brake Materials, Semiconductor Process Components |
