Epoxy-Coated Iron Powder (Epoxy@Fe)
Epoxy@Fe powder individually insulates iron particles with a thin phosphate/epoxy coating, enabling pressed soft magnetic composite cores with isotropic 3-D magnetic flux paths and low eddy-current loss that laminated steel cannot achieve.
Epoxy-Coated Iron Powder — Grades & Specifications
Epoxy-Coated Iron Powder (Epoxy@Fe) powder is supplied across a range of grades, particle sizes and coating ratios. The options below are typical; specify your target values in the request form and we will confirm availability, lead time and pricing.
| Material | Epoxy-Coated Iron Powder (Epoxy@Fe) |
|---|---|
| Category | Polymer-Coated Powder |
| Core material | Iron (CAS 7439-89-6) |
| Coating / shell material | Epoxy/phosphate insulation layer |
| Coating content | Thin insulation layer, generally well under 1 wt% total coating — typically a proprietary phosphate base layer with a thin organic (epoxy/phenolic) topcoat |
| Particle size | Base water-atomized iron powder spans roughly 45-212 um; soft magnetic composite grades are offered as large (#40 mesh), medium (#100 mesh) and fine (#200 mesh) cuts |
| Morphology | Irregular/near-spherical water-atomized particles, each individually insulated rather than agglomerated |
| Appearance | Gray-black free-flowing metallic powder |
| Electrical Resistivity | Compacted resistivity of the insulated material ranges roughly 70-700 microOhm-m depending on grade and compaction pressure (up to several thousand on the highest-resistivity grades) versus bare iron, which would be far more electrically conductive and lossy from eddy currents |
| Typical applications | Electric Motor Stator/Rotor Cores, High-Frequency Inductor Cores, EV Traction Motor Components, Solenoid & Actuator Cores |
